Arc Flash

An arc flash is an incredibly violent event that may occur when contact is made between a live electrical line and a foreign object. During an arc flash event, a tremendous amount of heat can be generated as the current from the line jumps to the object, whether it be an electrician’s screwdriver, the front of a panelboard, or even a curious rodent.

All electrical equipment that may be operated while power is flowing into it requires arc flash labeling. These labels provide personnel with vital information on how to protect themselves from potential arc flash events during live maintenance.

PRVN performs arc flash studies to maximize safety while improving on the system’s coordination and reliability. We will precisely document the entire electrical system, improve coordination between protective devices, and provide arc flash labels for all required equipment.
